Wreck-It Ralph
One of the most beautiful examples of how two broken people can fit together perfectly.
Ralph and Vanellope aren’t a typical duo. they’re two outcasts who find comfort in each other’s chaos. I’ve been shipping them since I was little. I had an enormous crush on Vanellope, and I’d brag about it every day, especially when everyone else saw her as “bad.” But I saw her good side from the start. This movie takes me straight back to my childhood. I’d light up every single time it came on, and even after hundreds of rewatches, I’d still smile the moment Ralph appeared. Later on, I realized I relate to him more than I ever knew. But that’s another story I’ll keep to myself.
Ralph and Vanellope work because they understand each other. Ralph is seen as a villain for being who he is, while Vanellope is treated like a mistake because of her glitch. Both of them are judged, pushed aside, and told they don’t belong . and yet, they find belonging in each other. Ralph doesn’t look at Vanellope and see a glitch. He sees a spark. He sees someone who’s real, someone who gets what it’s like to be unwanted but still want to matter. And Vanellope sees Ralph for who he truly is: not a “bad guy,” but a big-hearted, loyal friend who never stops trying, even when the world tells him he shouldn’t.
“Turns out I don’t need a medal to tell me I’m a good guy.”
What makes them special is that they never try to fix each other. They never demand that the other change. Ralph doesn’t want Vanellope to stop glitching; he wants everyone else to see her the way he does. Vanellope doesn’t want Ralph to become a hero; she knows he already is one. Their bond isn’t built on perfection. it’s built on acceptance. If that's not love, then I don't what is.
For me, this film isn’t about being good or bad. It’s about being seen. It’s about finding the one person who looks at your broken pieces and doesn’t flinch — they see the beauty in them. Ralph and Vanellope found that in each other, and maybe that’s why I never stopped rooting for them.
Aside from this Ralph-Vanellope propaganda, I just bought this movie on Blu-ray. It was great. Better than I imagined. And the funny thing is, a part of it started to rot. Like actually disc rot. I thought it was gonna play fine, it did, until it didn't. About 20 minutes was lost. But I'm not upset at all. I think it's special and brings the movie and Vanellope a whole other meaning.
