edit: still kinda weak from this. went from admiring the mundanity of these children’s daily lives to worrying about the tragedy of their circumstances to violently weeping to death. such a sad, beautiful depiction of childhood and the ways people still grow even when dealt a terrible hand. makes me wanna be a better older brother than i already try to be.
after seeing this and monster, hirokazu koreada really understand the significance of our youths and how formative these years are to our lives. I will NOT be touching another one of his movies for a while cause my ass is not ready
