Scavengers Reign
wishing i was a nepo baby so i could use my limitless wealth and power to fund beautiful animation like this forever and also legally kill david zaslav
it took me a bit to get into its momentum at first, ngl. it starts off kinda slow and i was worried it was gonna get carried by its visuals. however, i was proven wrong when said visuals just kept getting better and better ALONG with amazing character and worldbuilding moments.
im seriously in love with the way the discovery of the planet meshes with the cast over time, mentally and physically. the slow pacing i mentioned earlier actually grew on me as it sorta acted as a way to silently reflect along with the characters as they're forced to either fight for their lives or simply take care of their well beings. these characters and their guilt/wishes/joys/wills-to-live feel so real, as well as the new world they have to be accustomed to, from ethereal creations of nature to horrific abominations to some fuckass platypus looking thing that wants to just fuck shit up for some reason. with really detailed animation and sound design, you really get to appreciate how immense everything is.
i was already sad when it was announced that this wouldnt be getting a season 2, but now that i actually watched it im even more depressed. i hope the people who worked on this get another chance to make something as incredible as this.
