I’d wanna get in Patrick Wilson’s vessel too

Patrick Wilson strangling scene…. #jealous

A great sequel to the masterpiece that is *Into the Spider-Verse*, but this could’ve been a lot shorter. It’s stuffed with action and visual spectacle that’s amazing to watch, but a lot of it feels like filler without much substance. The whole movie edges you toward some unknown destination just to leave you hanging at the end. Bad. Still, it’s hard not to admire how ambitious this movie is. The animation somehow pushes even further than the first, every universe feels distinct, and the way it expands Miles and Gwen’s stories gives the sequel a much bigger emotional and thematic scope. I’m somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars. I’m definitely going to revisit this before *Beyond the Spider-Verse*.

Watched this at AMC’s 10th anniversary screening. I missed it when it first came out, so I went in with pretty high expectations and left slightly disappointed. It’s definitely a good movie, with a great score and beautiful cinematography, but I just didn’t feel much of an emotional connection to the story or its characters. The montage at the end was easily the highlight of the film and genuinely left me thinking about what could have been. Overall, though, I walked away feeling a little empty. I can absolutely appreciate the film and the impact it’s had, even if it didn’t resonate with me as much as I hoped it would.
