Scream
“There’s a formula to it! A very simple formula! Everybody’s a suspect!”
Definitively the best movie in the franchise. Sidney Prescott is the best final girl of all time, both how she’s written and portrayed. The way they play with satire and meta-commentary is hilarious and expertly woven into the story as to not hinder tension or stakes. Brilliant performances across the entire cast; the dialogue is perfect. Ghostface is iconic, and the performances from Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard impress both before and after the reveal. Scream is immaculately paced, allowing for character development, kills and suspense as the plot drives forward. My favourite slasher movie, and probably movie as a whole, of all time.
