Adolescence
This mainly just pissed me off. The concept is so good, but the execution is severely lacking. First of all, I get the point behind the one take framing, and it's so good, especially for episodes 1 and 3, but by episode 4, it just gets in the way. The entire thing just stays at surface level when there is SO MUCH to talk about. The most interesting thing going on is the manosphere, and it's just ignored to focus on the family and make you feel sorry for them, I'm sorry, but they DID raise their child and it is, to an extent, their fault. Sorry to tell u but if you're letting ur 13 year old son have free access to the internet with zero supervision that does make you a bad parent, so it really annoys me that the show just tries to make you feel bad for them. Also, I hate that it's so self-aware when the DS says she hates when media just focuses on the perpetrator and ignores the victim, but if the show is that self aware then WHY TF ARE U DOING THE SAME THING MAN. idk it could've been so so good and it just wasn't, it ignored the important bits to just fall into a narrative of making you feel bad for the family. Anyway I'm blaming netflix.
