“*Son. You keep dancing with the devil, one day he gon’ follow you home.”* *“So thats why we came back home. Figured we might as well deal with the devil we know.”* *“You know something? Maybe once a week, I wake up paralyzed reliving that night. But before the sun went down, I think that was the best day of my life.” * *“There are legends of people... born with the gift of making music so true, it can pierce the veil between life and death. Conjuring spirits from the past... and the future. In Ancient Ireland, they were called Fili. In Choctaw land, they call them Firekeepers. And in West Africa, they're called griots. This gift can bring healing to their communities but it also attracts evil.”* **“Last time I seen my brother, last time I seen the sun.”** Sometimes I sit and think about how nothing will compare watching this movie for the first time on some hot summer night, starting at around 3:30 and the sun rising towards the same time it did in the movie. One of the most surreal experiences you can have, sitting silently at 7 am in your balcony questioning what the hell you just watched, the crisp air flowing around you with only birds to hear. All in a day, too. Took one entire span of a day only to get you all sentimental. The kind of cautious tale you’ll be told once in your life by someone and never hear it again. *Oscars* cant describe what this movie is or what it’s done. One of the few out there that can transform a person the exact same way a bite can. I’m glad it got all them though. Because boy, does it deserve them. Best soundtrack, best set of actors I’ve seen in fact probably my favorite cast of all time. If letterboxd had top five this would be my fifth. Proud to have finally shown this to my parents. Ryan Coogler, you deserve the world and more and you deserved those two Oscar’s robbed from you with all honesty but we have to respect the academy’s wishes. Cheers to the incredible team you put together and creates this absolute masterpiece. And once again thanks a whole lot for Michael B. Jordan x2. Blessed be the fact that I get to live in the same generation as him. Also-congrats to Josh Allen & Hailee Steinfeld!!🍼 “You Klan?” “***SIR.😐😯😲😧🫨🤯😤”***

*“There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity... He was one of them. What more is there to say?”* *“It is an extremely common mistake. People think the writer's imagination is always at work, that he's constantly inventing an endless supply of incidents and episodes; that he simply dreams up his stories out of thin air. In point of fact, the opposite is true. Once the public knows you're a writer, they bring the characters and events to you. And as long as you maintain your ability to look, and to carefully listen, these stories will continue to seek you out, over your lifetime. To him, who has often told the tales of others, many tales will be told.”* *“When the destiny of a great fortune is at stake, men's greed spreads like a poison in the bloodstream. Uncles, nephews, cousins, in-laws of increasingly tenuous connection. The old woman's distant relations had come foraging out of the woodwork.”* *-M. Gustave: “Why do you want to be a lobby boy?” -Zero: “Well, who wouldn't - at the Grand Budapest, sir. It's an institution.”* -**M. Gustave:** *Precisely. I suppose this is to be expected back in Aq-Salim-al-Jabat, where one's prized possessions are a stack of filthy carpets and a starving goat, and one sleeps behind a tent flap and survives on wild dates and scarabs. But it's not how I trained you! What on God's earth possessed you to leave the homeland where you obviously belong and travel unspeakable distances to become a penniless immigrant in a refined, highly-cultivated society that, quite frankly, could've gotten along very well without you?* -**Zero**: *The war.* -**M. Gustave**: ...*Say again?* -**Zero**: *Well, you see, my father was murdered and the rest of my family were executed by firing squad. Our village was burned to the ground and those who managed to survive were forced to flee. I left because of the war.* -**M. Gustave**:* I see. So you're, actually, really more of a refugee, in that sense?* -**Zero**: *Truly*. -**M. Gustave**:*Well, I suppose I'd better take back everything I just said. What a bloody idiot I am. Pathetic fool. Goddamn, selfish bastard. This is disgraceful, and it's beneath the standards of the Grand Budapest. I apologize on behalf of the hotel.* -**Zero:** *It's not your fault, Monsieur Gustave. You were just upset I forgot the perfume.* -**M. Gustav**e: *Don't make excuses for me! I owe you my life. You are my dear friend and protégé and I'm very proud of you. You must know that! I'm so sorry, Zero.* -**Zero**: *We're brothers.* *“I give you my word, if you lay a finger on this man, I'll see you dishonorably discharged, locked up in the stockade, and hanged by sundown.”* **“You can't arrest him just because he's a bloody immigrant, he hasn't done anything wrong!”** M. Gustave you would hate our world today if you were alive, my favorite fascist-fighting immigrant-protecting hotel concierge. Ralph Fiennes per usual a fantastic display of emotion. Every time I watch a movie of his I’m convinced this will be his greatest performance but alas, I am mistaken each time. Him and Tony Revolori created perhaps one of the most memorable cinematic duos. And Jude Law as a narrator is probably one of the best decisions made by any director. I am so irrevocably in love with him it’s not funny. Wes Anderson’s cinematography per usual was absolutely stunning, always maintaining that tell-tale vibe. The richness in color makes you just want to eat the movie, literally and figuratively. Also applaud to runner up actors Edward Norton, William Dafoe, Owen Wilson and that goddamn little fruit Adrien Brody. What an expensive cast. Not to mention Jeff Goldblum (rip cat), Bill Murray (*hotel concierges unite*) and of course, the loveliest of them all, Saoirse Ronan. He got worth his money though, because this was like assembling the avengers. Also, I deeply appreciate Anderson’s care and dedication to authors, of course most importantly Roald Dahl, but also here, legendary yet tragic Stefan Zweig. Kudos to him. Truly a magical movie. *“Nothing makes you madder than wanting to defend yourself against something you can't even get hold of, something the human race is doing to you, but still there's nobody you can grab by the throat.”-Stefan Zweig*

Again if he had just minded his own DAM business and left a laptop without stealing it (!) none of this would have happened. Couldn’t even help all of the other victims brother. Overall really good watch tho it makes you think

*“Houston, we have a problem.”* I really do love Jean Grey. But god they did her a bit wrong in this one. Barely any depth into her charachter, just displaying her as this girl who her family didn’t want and she always thought she was broken and like her relationship with Scott. Thats it. I saw more personality in *Apocalypse *in those few seconds she had with Logan. Anyhow, I still think it was a pretty good movie except for killing Raven off. Her death was SO unnecessary and its effect was nearly nothing. No one really cared when it should have been a global tragedy. This is *the *Mystique we’re talking about here. I would have honestly expected so much more from Charles. Cheers to you, Hank. You were right, Raven; “*And by the way the women are always saving the men around here, you might want to change the name to X-Women.” * Same issue with Scott. I know damn well he’s not just a kid who cares about his girlfriend-I know this movie wasn't about him but I feel like the earlier movies always displayed charachters individually even when not centered. Anyhow. If I was the professor I would be so damn done with all of them. Every time he goes after them, he lost his legs yet he never fails to chase *any *of these people and literally for a lot of the time they treat him horribly. Like have some gratitude. You sometimes forget how much he’s lost. He was once just a kid like you too. Also I just want to say Kurt being displayed as this kind, thoughtful and caring character, a bit on the weak side, going absolutely feral over a father dying has to be my favorite piece of character work ever.
