Parasite
I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing about it, and honestly all i can say is wow. The acting is astonishing, the story writing and the characters were really interesting and captivating to me. I found myself growing attached to a few of the characters, one in particular. I’m not usually one for films of this nature but I think in a lot of the writing and story telling captures a lot of real world issues related to class struggles and social inequalities even going with the obvious parts of exploitation and dependency. I have a lot of takes on the rich and the privilege they’re awarded due to their financial positions and how absolutely out of touch they are and i think this movie tackles it perfectly. This movie is an absolute work of art and a fight for survival.. eat or be eaten. I also like how it captures the selfishness and lack of consideration (knowingly or not the system pits them against each-other) for the other people that are sacrificed for the Kims family's survival and “gain”. While the Parks live a well off and comfortable life, others like the main family we’re observing (The kims) are fighting tooth and nail just to keep their heads above water. The parks consistently fuel themselves off of labor done by others beneath them, as-well as their casual entitlement shedding a lot of light on their “parasitic” nature. It begins as a clever, comedic con and it over time morphs into a disturbing commentary on the invisible but rigid social barriers that divide society. The brilliance of Parasite lies in its seamless genre shifts and the precision of its storytelling. Bong's direction is meticulous, with each frame loaded with symbolic detail, from the vertical architecture representing class hierarchy to the use of space and light to contrast the two families lives. The screenplay is sharp and unpredictable, with plot twists that feel both shocking and inevitable. The performances are universally excellent, particularly Song Kang-ho as the father of the Kim family, whose restrained desperation anchors the film emotionally. The production design, score, and cinematography all contribute to a tightly wound narrative that maintains tension and humor in equal measure. As-well as the ending being extremely shocking, touching, and a big tear jerker.
In short, Bong Joon-ho's Parasite is a masterfully crafted social thriller that blends black comedy, drama, and horror to deliver a scathing critique of class inequality.. and honestly, i loved it.
