Soul
i’ve seen this movie twice now and the first was when i was 15(meant a lot to 15 yr old me).. It’s fun and comforting to watch but also surprisingly deep in a way that feels very natural and not forced. What makes it so inspiring is that it doesn’t just tell you to chase some huge dream. It reminds you that life is made up of small moments and everyday joys and that those things matter just as much as big achievements.
The movie has a really gentle way of talking about purpose and meaning. It feels relatable especially if you’ve ever felt lost, burnt out or unsure about what you’re doing with your life. Instead of giving straight and hard answers it kind of sits with those feelings and lets you come to your own conclusions which makes it feel more honest and emotionally real.
The art and animation are absolutely beautiful. The way New York City is shown feels warm and alive and the contrast with the more abstract colorful worlds is so creative and visually satisfying. Every scene feels thoughtfully designed and there’s so much detail that you can really feel the care that went into it. (Also the sound design is so good.)
Soul feels one of a kind because of how brave it is for an animated movie. It’s not afraid to be quiet thoughtful and emotional. It trusts its audience to understand big ideas and that makes it feel special. It’s the kind of movie that entertains you while also making you think about your own life in a really gentle inspiring way.
‘Soul’ is truly healing for your soul. 🪐
