Wicked
Let me start off my saying that I am a big musical person so my review is gonna be mostly positive. The production value of this movie was insane; I felt like I was walking through Oz alongside Elphie and Galinda. Now that I’m thinking about it, I don’t believe I’ve ever disliked any Jon Chu movie I’ve seen and this was no exception. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande had such great chemistry; I never knew that Ariana could showcase such complex emotions with just her eyes (ex: No One Mourns the Wicked and the OzDust Ballroom scene). And can we hold space for Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero? Also, why would that cheeky man tell us that riding boots photo exists and then not show us? That’s just plain mean. But yeah, music great. Visuals great. Acting great. Easily my top movie of 2024.
