The Long Walk
“The sky. The trees. The birds… You know what else is beautiful? Us. Because we’re real friends, aren’t we?”
tough watch, but could easily be one of my favorite movies ever
the concept is nothing too new, reminded me of the hunger games in terms of vibe, lots of criticism towards society. i think the final part with the fireworks, the screaming of "america," and all that after 49 kids die is very telling of the movie's base idea.
i fell in love with the characters, knew they were probably all going to die, and i was still expecting a miracle to happen. i'm gonna keep thinking about a lot of quotes from the movie for a while. really amazing movie, amazing acting, made me feel like shit for over half of it.
edit: it's not a "perfect" movie and there are plot holes for sure, but the characters made the movie so much more
