> “and look! mailing address. > what? are we gonna mail him something? > no man? that’s where he lives.” dialogue — like this — gives me life. This film is a really interesting one. Some parts of this feels like Joel Haver at his more amateur, while others feel like genuinely the most practically impressive sequences I’ve seen — from him; That intro is so fucking good. It feels very early-Richard-Linklater. The style is all there, to like an auteur-level extent, you just gotta jive with the pacing. This is a slow, meditative, film — that becomes almost sluggish, at one point, but in a way that works with its main character. This inspires me to go around some small-towns local, to me, and see who I can get to star in my work. Maybe this is just because I grew up around the English country/coast and people around here rarely want any part, in anything, but I’ve never seen a community come together — in this way — before. What a magical film. The soundtrack, and how it’s implemented, is real lovely — too. Edit: Actually highly recommend Haver’s last short [“How to Navigate an Argument With a Friend”](https://youtu.be/KxoppLofeZw?is=dekE9rgbeu3YIxac) with Dax Flame and Christina Kartchner; I checked it out — just now — and I’d say it’s a great example of what I really like about Joel’s style of directing, that is evident in this, just in shorter form.

> *“you ARE a transsexual.” > ***rushes to wash hands** lots of meme potential, here

watch the UK dub, if you want an English dub of this film. This shit sucks so bad. **Edit: I just remembered saying “this shit sucks so bad” in my review of the UK dub. Rest assured, this shit sucks way more.** It’s only kinda funny, if you’ve watched a better version of this, before — even then, it’s only HonestTrailers-tier funny, at most. It’s a dogshit, meme quality edit of an already shitpost-y Danish film, so the final result winds up being actually mind numbing. They didn’t even get the joke, with the dad, right. They didn’t understand the “take a look at yourself” misunderstanding either and didn’t bother to translate the song. There’s just pop-up text saying “now for a song you won’t understand” trying play it off, as meta humour. It’s so lame.

“What if The Meg (2018) was good?” I loved this one so much, perfect vibes
