Decided to limit my review to 1,000 words, because I know I could go on longer talking about how stunning this movie is. I held off on watching this film because I knew every other movie I watch after it will be a disappointment, at least in comparison to this film. I was right. I might as well lower every other 5 star I’ve given to 4.5 stars, because this film is leagues better, and I mean LEAGUES. I finished it 11 minutes ago. I changed 11 minutes ago, not only as a film reviewer but as a person. I’ve never wanted to rewatch a film as much as this one, and I just watched it, 11 minutes ago. At several intervals I wanted to get up and cheer. Few movies can make me do that, but no movie has made me do that as much as this film. Every facet, every element, it’s quite literally perfect. No, it’s more than perfect. I have never hearted a film on this website, I was waiting for the movie that would truly change my life. This was that movie, and this will always be that movie. A 10/10 rating does not do this film justice. I made several alternate accounts just so I can give this movie 10/10 and a heart on each one. And I haven’t even talked about the movie yet, just gushed about it, which I could do for hours. I deeply connected to the movie, from the characters to the story to the jokes. This is the film I really needed in my life right now. I wanted to personally hug every character. They are all brilliantly written, the amount of diversity in these characters makes it so that everyone can connect to this movie. Our two leads are such strong characters and the growth you see from them is amazing.The designs make them even better. Both are heavily detailed and how someone came up with the designs I do not know. Would the geniuses who made this movie please stand up? I just want to shake your hand so maybe an iota of your talent will rub off on me. I can only dream. Oh yeah, back to the characters. They are even further heightened by the voice actors, they are so expressive and I love the enunciation of the “z” s. If I heard the voice actors speak out in public I would immediately recognize them, they’re that iconic. The characters have multiple motivations in order to justify every decision they make. Dumb characters in movies can get frustrating but these characters are the farthest from that as possible. The two are wildly intelligent, which is a good reflection of the creators of this movie. All of them (not just the two leads) could burn down my house and I would still love them. I have never been more invested in a story, I was on the edge of my seat for the entirety of runtime. The level of tension in each scene should be illegal. It makes the opening of Inglourious Basterds look like it was made by a 5 year old. In fact, this film makes every other film look like it was made by a five year old. Kubrick, Hitchcock, Kurosawa, etc. should be ashamed of themselves. The conflict had me crying, has a conflict in a Hitchcock or Kubrick movie ever made you cry? I thought not. I really felt for these characters and I wished for the best for them. By the end of the movie they felt like my family members, and I was sad to see them go. I could watch these characters forever, they’re insightful and enjoyable. The jokes had me splitting my ribs, the hospital bills are worth it. If a movie can make you cry of joy and happiness, it’s doing something right. In this case, the movie is doing everything right. Every line is one I want to print out and hang on my wall, every frame is one I want on my phone or laptop background, and every sound wave that pleasurably hit my ears I want to play on repeat while I sleep. The music choices are simply brilliant, all of them are absolute bops and I would be ok if we removed all other music to keep the soundtrack. Guardians of the Galaxy found dead in a ditch. OH AND THE SCORE!!! It is indescribably beautiful and the first note alone had me sobbing my eyes out. I don’t know how John Williams sleeps at night knowing he’ll never make a score as good as this one. Honestly, I don’t know how Martin Scorsese sleeps at night knowing he’ll never direct a movie as good as this one. I don’t know how Roger Deacon sleeps at night knowing he’ll never hold a candle to the cinematography in this film. I don’t know how Robert DeNiro sleeps at night knowing he’ll never be as good of an actor as the voice actors in this movie. I DON’T KNOW HOW ANY FILMMAKER SLEEPS AT NIGHT KNOWING THEY'LL NEVER MAKE A MOVIE AS GOOD AS BEE TEAM. This is a masterpiece of a film that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime. It changed my life and I imagine it will change you. If you’re feeling sad, watch this movie, it will lift you up. If you’re feeling smart, watch this movie, it will humble you. If you want to feel something, watch this movie, it will provide tears that could fill an olympic sized swimming pool. No matter what you’re feeling, watch this movie. I would advise you to stop what you’re doing and watch this film right now. As of June 23, 2023, I am a new person. I am a better person. I am a stronger person. I am a smarter person. I am a wiser person. The Bee Team is sensational. I hope everyone who worked on this movie lives long, fruitful lives. I know I will, and I know you will too if you watch this gem.
