i need to start watching more films with misleading synopses or ones that barely give anything because this hit harder as it kept going beyond what i had in mind. bleak 3-hour film with a classical musical score that makes up for the sadness, somehow - very shunji iwai. this is for the gullible, for the naive, for those who let the wave sweep them away to wherever, for those who deceive, and for those who adapt to deception. beautiful and painfully real.
