Queer
theres just so much to love about this film - the needle drops, the world building, and the symbolisms. i really love how miniatures played a crucial role in shaping the place where this small american community exists because it perfectly maneuevered my perception of the place - it was also the first hint of whatever surrealist shit the film was heading to.
the way drew starkey was introduced in this was such a highlight for me. it was perfect, paired by daniel kraig’s flawless portrayal of queer thrill. the recurring hint of agitation in the yet intimate score for every time they hooked up is another thing that stuck to me.
really enjoyed the pacing and how the film introduced more unorthodox symbolisms as it progressed. i love how even if it made me think, it didnt put the understanding of kraig’s character into a halt.
as it were nearing the end, particularly after that night in the jungle, everything was free. the film is free, eugene is free as its been made clear to lee he isnt queer, lee is free from something that he had been wondering for some time but even after all, he truthfully still wasnt.
it then ends with this completely metaphoric sequence that just sealed the experience. it was haunting and agonizing, similar to that of in cmbyn. LUCA IS A STORYTELLING GOD.
also, THEY DID IT WITH TONGUE!
