Watching it, you realize how simply and honestly the film shows one thing religion very quickly becomes a system that mainly regulates women their bodies, their clothes, their behavior, even their thoughts but the heaviest feeling came afterward. The film came out in 2007, and now it’s 2026 and for a huge number of women this is still not history, but reality
and that’s what makes it so sad, Persepolis doesn’t try to be a loud manifesto it just shows life. And that’s exactly why it hits so hard
