Kes
To me, the beauty of this film lies in its simplicity and honesty. It never feels the need to exaggerate its emotions or dramatize its story, which makes every moment feel genuine and deeply human. The relationship between Billy and Kes is what got me invested and gives the film its emotional core. In a world where Billy is constantly overlooked and mistreated, Kes becomes one of the few things that gives him a sense of purpose and freedom. None of the scenes between these two are exaggerated or too emotional. They are all simple, peaceful, and beautiful, which captures the quiet joy that Billy finds in caring for Kes. It’s crazy to me how this film was able to create a pit of sadness in my stomach over something as simple as a boy and his bird
