Joker
I really dont like taking the route of “oh said character didnt even have it that bad” or the whole notion that one can have “worse” trauma compared to another even if its a movie form. like ok, characters aside if we just look at the joker in this movie without a preconceived belief on how his personality is or how he became to be the joker or whatever i dont rly keep up w dc but honestly you cant say that he wasnt going through it yk? like fuck he was never loved by anyone abandoned ect ect and I rly feel like this movie did a good job w displaying his deteriorating mental health and his final monologue really made me feel so emphatic to this character which honestly doesn’t happen at all even if it sounds sigma alpha wolf idc. I feel like the main issue people have with this movie is that its supposed to be THE joker movie and then it goes and portrays the joker in a totaly diffremt light where he is extremely vulnerable and this pathetic little man who wants to be loved which threw alot of people off. This led to them saying oh he didnt even have that bad of a childhood or he didnt really have to struggle when thats not the point at all. This movie isnt about proving who has the worse trauma or who should be justified for turning on society when it has consistently turned its back on one. Its about the joker, this man who isn't quite normal but still just existing in a world in which doesnt love him back, and then fate plays its cards and he has the opportunity to, in a clouded judgement ofc, take control of his life by hiding in this new persona of the joker.
