Heat
What a movie. I was surprised how many layers this movie had and that doing heists wasn’t the main thing going on. When there was the heist scenes though, there was so much tension and they were fun to watch. The shootouts, cat and mouse games, and the lead performances were top tier.
That diner scene between Pacino and De Niro is the whole movie in one conversation. Two guys who know they could choose something better, walk away, start over… but they won’t. Not because they can’t — because they don’t want to. They’re addicted to the rush, the violence, the control, and the identity that comes with it. Every character gets a shot at a different life, and every single one chooses the same path that’s been wrecking them from the start.
