Bamboozled

“people pay for what they do, and still more for what they have allowed themselves to become, and they pay for it, very simply, by the lives they lead” - james baldwin  what a movie. and what an extremely “controversial” one at that, but a much needed one. spike lee you are an actually genius. this really isn’t just a satire film, it’s practically a mirror shoved into everyone’s face, showing the residue of every racist trope that has been used (and is still being used) within the entertainment industry. not only used, but profited. this movie is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable and force you to see what’s in front of you, and if you are comfortable … then you have completely missed the point. just because you have the illusion of a choice, doesn’t mean it was actually your choice.
