it is so fascinating how chiron, moments earlier, is this completely different guy - he's grown up, his entire demeanour is, truly, unrecognisable - but the moment he hears kevin's voice, he's back to who he was. the conversations within this film feel like they're had between real people. i think that i forgot that i was watching a movie ten minutes in.
i remember groaning every time the audio stopped for the narrator to give some unwanted backstory but the things he says are said so matter-of-factly that i kinda began to enjoy it. this film is lowkey fantastic. it's smarter than it lets on.
bruh this is so beautiful and effortlessly hilarious... so many gorgeous shots that i just found out were somehow done by an iphone
built the community from the ground up. heartwrenching and grounded in reality. a necessary watch.
the way they find such comfort in one another is so beautiful and so angering because #menext! god i love this film it is so intimate and grounded in real life maybe on account of it being dedicated to the director's first girlfriend... but who knows...
sooo good...... i was so invested in every single woman on screen....... so beautiful.......... almodovar you are one of a kind......
every shot is so intimate. it lingered on their fingers as they picked beads to make bracelets, on their smiles as they tried marshmallows for the first time, on the little kisses claudia gave grace (yo side note this specific scene is horrifying i actually felt like killing myself). that's my biggest problem with this you see it just hurt so bad. god i loved this movie god i hated it just kill me now i want to drown in the lake please just put me out of my misery
always a sucker for guadagnino's stylisation... though i do wish i understood this better than i did. a lot of symbolism, with these sprawling surrealist shots, but it may have been a tad bit too much for me.
'i can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life' in all its beauty... on an unrelated note the shots were gorgeous a list: the first time we see the falls in colour after watching the film in black and white, both of them sitting on the bus together but apart as they shift in their seats at the same time, the zoom-in on the lamp that they have, the dancing scene
appreciated the last third of the movie so much more on rewatch. god it's so buzzy nothing has ever been this good ever before. GOD it's so buzzy
props to piper perabo for adequately acting out the sinking feeling you get in your chest when you see a 10/10 girl for the very first time who hasn't been there
pov you might be losing her forever so you spend your last night together staring into each other's eyes and recounting and remembering and reminiscing
god i love this movie GOD i love this movie. it's crazy how it can be so hilarious and yet so fucking heartbreaking. i can't even imagine (that's a lie i totally can) how alone megan felt when her parents told her that she'd be on her own if she didn't 'cure' herself... the guilt in graham's eyes as she made the decision to stay... told myself i wouldn't cry this time and yet here i am sitting in my tears.
