“what sick ridiculous puppets we are, what gross little stage we dance on. what fun we have, dancing and fucking. not a care in the world. not knowing that we are nothing. we are not what was intended.” this has to be by far one of the best crime/psychological thriller movie i have seen, it had basically everything you could want in this type of movie. it had no trouble at all keeping me on my toes and anxious with anticipation of what else was going to happen and how much more gruesome was this killer going to go in terms of torturing his victims; some literally left me in shock.
i loved both brad pitt and morgan freeman’s performances in this, i actually didn’t think that a duo like them was going to mingle together as incredibly well as it did! their partnership was interesting and left me really wanting more. when the going started to get really tough was when their dynamic just grew stronger and stronger- obviously bringing out the iconic line “what’s in the box!!”
the colouring and the pacing of the movie flowed and looked great, sometimes in crime or psychological thriller movies their pacing and colouring come off as really weird. either the pacing is too quick or too slow, or more often than not really slow to start and rushing at the end. and the colour usually being a weird sludgy colour but- se7en found a dare i say, perfect balance for this specific genre.
fucking incredible movie and definitely one of my favourites now that i often try and recommend to whoever hasn’t had the pleasure of watching it!
