Engaging plot, effective jumpscares, exceptional performance by Mark Duplass. And of course dumb decisions by the main character (as in most of horror movies). *Creep *was also a bit unserious for my liking.

*A Nightmare on Elm Street* is on more *unique *side of classic slasher films. It has an amazing concept but i think it could’ve been done better. The idea that a man is hunting you in your dreams is something i thought i would really enjoy in a horror film but there is just one huge flaw. Why is everyone not bothered about the fact that they literally cannot go to sleep without fighting for their lives. I don’t know if it’s the acting or maybe it’s been done on purpose but i wanted to see more emotion, an actual moment when main characters are terrified. The hospital scene proves that people in this town just don’t care. Nancy’s mother is witnessing her daughter’s assault and later she tells her to go to sleep. I know that horror film characters were known for their lack of intelligence but this is something else. The whole character of Freddie Krueger is amazingly done, great design and backstory contribute to his chilling persona. Overall I enjoyed *A Nightmare on Elm Street*. The only downside of this movie is its unserious manner. Regardless this film still has its moments.
