Hacksaw Ridge
Like most of Mel Gibson's work, this movie is far from perfect. Despite the obvious Hollywood dramatizations and cliches, I really liked this film.
The first half of this movie was very boring to me and honestly cheesy. I hated the bright color grade and did not like the melodramatic acting. Little did I know, this was a genius directing decision by Gibson.
By lulling me into a false sense of comfort, I was now right at Gibson's mercy. When the first Battle of Hacksaw Ridge arrived, I witnessed probably one of the most vile and horrific stretches of cinema I've seen and the drastic contrast to the beginning made it that much more powerful.
Great film, gotta love the religious aspect too.
