“*the other day, i cried. i felt stupid. but you know what? fuck that day. that's why god, or whoever, makes new days.*” well this certainly takes it for one of the most harrowing films i have seen in a long time, it kills me knowing how common this is in the world. there are some evil fuckers out there who would do something like this in a heartbeat, it frightens me: what if i were to fall in love and my partner had intentions of doing something like this? fucking disgusting. mo’nique’s performance was oscar winning and you can clearly see why, the way she screams and the way she delivers the horrendous actions and verbal/physical abuse being precious’s monstrous mother is beyond words. it truly did shock me, the story/plot (courtesy of geoffrey s. fletcher and his inspiration from the novel ‘push’ by sapphire in 1996) merely raises awareness and brings this horrific case to light. gabourey sidibe’s performance as precious herself was incredible and so deserved the oscar win, unfortunately sandra bullock won at the 82nd academy awards that year.
