Queer
I'm really glad I read the book first cause this movie is kinda William Burroughs biopic. Knowing the context of the book and William’s life, I think Queer handles many sensitive topics and controversies of William's life at the time that he was living so well. I think Luca, Justin, and Daniel really capture the many nuances of this very interesting person. I think what makes this movie so great is the ending, how it very respectfully fictionalises the end of William’s life, I find it very tragic and touching at the same time. The idea of creating a biopic of someone who has this cloud of mysteries around their presence is not new, but I think Luca is able to find a way to present this story in a fresh and dynamic way in his approach to create the fictional story of a real figure and a controversial one at that. There’re little details that are really great, like the Nirvana song that hints at the correlation of Kurt Cobain's death with the tragedy of William Burroughs and also the very artificial visual style. It’s great!
