jack doust thank you for recommending this it was a very thought provoking watch. i got quite a lot from this film, the cube itself is a symbol / microcosm of society itself. my interpretation of this film is that it’s saying humans as a species are innately violent and that brutality will always prevail no matter the circumstances. obviously it’s a low budget independent and ORIGINAL film which i really respect but the digital effects in this film were awful. i think it was paced in such a way where i just didn’t enjoy the time jumps. i get that it might be translating the how the characters of the film interpret time to the viewer but it just didn’t feel right to me idk. but overall it’s incredible for an independent low budget film and original screenplay and is definitely due a rewatch

holy smokes this was absolutely incredible. david lynch is at his absolute peak with this film it is perfection from start to finish. this is my first watch and i’d like to think i have a reasonable understating of what’s going on here but hopefully when i rewatch this film more will be revealed. definitely my favourite lynch film of the 6 feature films i’ve seen so far from him. but yeah i am just blown away at how good this is and how good it looks the whole noir aesthetic fits the film perfectly i am just lost for words at how much i enjoyed this.

for the majority of this film i would think i know what is happening and then something will happen and im back to square one. either way i can appreciate it for its vast levels of ambiguity as i can tell this is just lynch making a film with no one to tell him no. i also love how this was primarily funded by lynch himself it gives it a sort of charm that i haven’t got with his other projects. it is a really interesting one that definitely deserves a rewatch in the near future and it’s definitely a project i will research more now i have finished it. i went into this completely blind and that’s probably the best way to watch it i was completely blown away by what i had just seen. i think the best way to describe this is its just lynchs brain spilled out and formed into a film for three hours. god knows if lynch even knew what he was doing with this one. but overall it was a very enjoyable and challenging watch that i thoroughly enjoyed.
