genuinely might be missing something here, but this movie was almost mind-numbing to pay attention to. The theme of feeling insecure about your ability to pursue your dreams is fantastic, but the characters were so uninteresting that I wasn’t invested in their passions and drive to care in the first place. You can never go wrong with a ghibli movie’s soundtrack so I’m happy they didn’t mess that up at least.

20 years old my ass, that boy can direct. The atmosphere of this movie is unparalleled, like legitimately it is really well done and that deserves genuine praise. The suspense and horror aspect was pretty good as well, but the beginning and the therapist really threw me off and it really toned down the experience for me. This is 100% worth it and I rec that to anyone who’s interested!

*“We are the hope that people will one day understand each other and we are the words 'I love you'”. * I still love this movie deeply, but as I got older, I felt more connected to the more hopeful messaging than shinji’s self-hatred. This is a good sign that I’m on the right track.. so far. **Happy 18th birthday for me! **

the scariest part about this movie is that we all know that one coworker that would be in this fuckass situation. the suspense in this movie is unreal, the music choices are back to back peak, the gore is phenomenal, and the ending was just perfect. The characters were consistent and I liked that a lot as well. My only iff was the beginning but other then that, it really paid off. The performances were amazing too (mainly inde navarrette)!
