Monster
this show gets almost everything right. there’s constant connections being made between future, past, and present events, the soundtrack is amazing, and almost all of the characters are extremely well-written. we don’t get the true answers to all of the questions in monster, and while it’s frustrating at first i think it works incredibly for the overlying themes of the show. there’s truly so many lessons to be learned from this show and so much to think about. (lowkey made me question everything) it doesn’t shy away from rougher topics, and one of my favorite aspects of the show is it’s examination of human nature, the meaning of life, upbringing, and more. this could sound dramatic but this is one piece of media that really made me think about the world, and think about people as a whole. imo, one of the best lessons you learn from monster is that people essentially all start the same. how some people end up one way and some end up the other doesn’t have one simple explanation. by the end, so many characters that i had extremely hated became some of my favorites, and i even started rooting for them; the character development is amazing. okok i have way too many thoughts and this was a ramble so i’m done, JUST NEED TO SAY that the last couple of episodes literally put me through each and every stage of grief and then did it again, and i’m never getting over the fact that tenma and grimmer never got their second picnic
.. ok wait also even if u hate anime pls watch this, it is genuinely one of the best things i have ever seen and i will probably never shut up about it
