Patrick Melrose
I know this is a TV series but I just have to put it on Letterboxd because it's one of the best series out there and no one has seen it and I just watched it a third time and I just HAD to share. The books are beyond incredible, and understandably it's hard to translate that to the screen when most of what makes it incredible is Patrick's inner dialogue with himself, but Benedict Cumberbatch literally embodies Patrick and I honestly don't think I've ever seen him better in anything else (he did win a BAFTA for this). The cinematography for this is so oversaturated which I think would annoy most people but again it is a PERFECT match for embodying Patrick and his chaotic inner world. It's touching but never sentimental, grating and cringe but at the expense of those it mocks satirically, and completely hilarious which I feel like no one really expects considering the context of Patrick's life. It's just so freaking good. Everyone should watch this...and read the series first :) I think I'm going to start putting TV reviews on here, but only if they're awesome, not if they suck.
