After Life
Sometimes we think there's nothing worth living for, but in reality, there's always something, even if we don't realize it at the time. It could be the smallest things, like your brother buying you a pair of red shoes, or the feeling of the wind on your face on the way to school, or watching cherry blossom petals fluttering in the air. Being alive means existing in the memories of those around us, and we only truly die when everyone has forgotten us. What truly makes us happy and what we cherish most in this life? That is the question the film poses, and the viewers must find the answers for themselves.
Without sensational or thrilling plots, without dramatic climaxes involving death or angels or anything of the sort, the film, with its creative, gentle, and simple yet realistic presentation, allows the audience to put themselves in the characters' shoes and seek answers for themselves. That is the most humane meaning, explaining why cinema exists.
