"It's one of the best movies ever made because it's hard to put into words."
"This life is too big for anyone to see the whole picture themselves, and yet we — who can’t even see the back of our own heads — are forced to navigate the infinite complexities of the world as if we’ve been here before (“Risk is high when you do anything for the first time,” one particularly wise character imparts). So we get lost. We make mistakes. We hold fast to even our flimsiest convictions to avoid being paralyzed by the uncertainty of it all."
In the first two hours, I thought this movie was hard to grasp. Many events happen, and there are many ambiguous lines, one event follows another and always ends ambiguously. So I thought that this film would probably be one of the highly rated films that I couldn't appreciate. But in the last 30 minutes, this movie completely changed my mind. The incomprehension and concerns that I had about the character disappeared. The most touching and favorite scene was when Yang Yang read the eulogy to his grandmother at the funeral. I saw myself in the days when my grandfather passed away, the last look in Yang Yang's eyes, looking at the coffin, was a look of not knowing when he would see his grandmother again, and it made me feel extremely sympathetic, because I had also had that look before.
It's really hard to describe my feelings after watching the movie. I just think it's worth the hype. And really, everything is not as complicated as we think.
