5 stars bc the showcase of footage from 2019-23 khartoum is limited, the messaging is necessary viewing, and presenting sudanese ppl (and the struggle through revolution and war) to international viewers is always a feat. The intention is fully there, but I can’t help but have thoughts on the production, the filmmaker, and the editing. either way, watch!!!

sudani cinema!!!!!!! beautiful to have seen the short years ago and to see how mirghani expanded it into a feature. i love the story and love the characters. loved the q&a and loved that i got to meet suzannah afterwards🤗🤗

unfortunately i was being an asshole the first time i watched this. happy 2 grow up. truly an epic! so rich and intentional. it’s really an immigrant story fr. changing of the guard, changing of the time. pushing and pulling between old ways and new. michael corleone deserved better from my younger self. also always has inspired all the things i love, but my first time really appreciating the source material
