Parasite
Okay, so now I get the hype. The cinematography in this film alone is purely phenomenal. The colours on the screen are absolutely beautiful and depict the meaning behind what's going on. It's clear that Bong Joon-Ho knew he was creating art when making this, you can feel the passion behind it. I thought the writing was brilliant, the film wasn't too much, everything built up to that shocking climax and then it came to my favourite part, the way they tied everything up in the end. There were some very good performances, one of my favourites was the way the antagonist Geun-Sae was played. A lot of the film was predictable but it was still very fun to watch. Even the most mundane parts to me were interesting like when the poorer family were weaseling their way into the Park family's business, like a "Parasite". There were moments where I thought, "This is very good, but is it best picture worthy?" But then I realised that in comparison to a lot of other contenders for that title, yeah, it probably is best picture worthy. If you haven't seen Parasite, what are you doing, go watch it, and if you have, I'm almost certain you feel the same way I do. I have so much to say about this film, which is odd because it almost left me speechless. I'm not normally a fan of following subtitles, but this just worked for some reason. I was trying to think of why this film has so much hype before I watched it, I still don't fully understand what it is, but it certainly is something. Wow.
