Much Loved
“Four friends, who make a living as prostitutes in Morocco, navigate the dangers and stigmas associated with their profession in a culture that does not forgive women.”
I have never watched a movie that has made me cry this hard, and I wish I was joking.
Feminism, queerness, poverty, patriarchy, family, love, friendship…a lot of topics that always bring controversy in the moroccan landscape that tries to portray itself as a perfect one, but only keeps failing their own people by oppressing minorities into silence and suffering.
This movie has been prohibited and censored + the actors have even gotten death threats for participating into a film that has only sinned of speaking the truth that no one wants to see, it’s obviously more easy for fucking rich people to stay silent and try to act as if this country is a conservative one as if shit like this didn’t happen all the time just so they can keep filling their pockets with money.
I hope more movies like this are made, just for the sake of the future of moroccans.
