Spirited Away
Another movie I saw in media studies class
Genuinely such a heartwarming story. I haven't had this much child like adoration for a film in a long time. I grew up watching Ghibli movies (basically just Ponyo, Totoro, and Howl's Moving Castle on repeat) so even if I've exactly watched this movie before I still felt this sense of familiarity and nostalgia for the film.
Of course nostalgia isn't enough for me to give a movie a high rating. I really loved seeing Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Men in No Way Home, when i first saw it, but rewatches show that it's spectacle and charm wore very thin and ended with a product with very little substance. If it wasn't for the amazing animation, voice acting, music, and writing I wouldn't even give this a second thought. Movies are truly something special, the fact that it was able to bring me back to happy memories from simpler times where my biggest concerns were what episodes of Ben 10 i wanted to watch first is pretty incredible.
10/10
Also if it seems like I haven't logged any movies from my media studies class, it's not because we haven't watched any movies in a while it's just that this past month I've either fallen asleep from staying up to late the night before or I missed a big chunk of the movie from being absent from school on the days we were watching it. ✌️
