if i could choose an animal to be it would be a worm so i could see if people would still love me if i was a worm

hearing the father say “my dream is for my children to have a future and ambitions, and not to be condemned to the same destiny as mine” tore me apart,, just knowing that more than two decades later they would still suffer the same fate as he did, dreams robbed and hope crushed once again.

BEAUTIFUL FILM … so simple in its narrative and execution but i think that’s the beauty of what makes it so effective. it really captures the overlooked resilience and emotional depth that children have whilst contrasting it with a world that constantly devalues and berates them. and every time i saw ali’s sad weepy doe eyes i wanted to burst into tears !!! this film completely melted my heart :,)) thank u to user yuricel for the rec ur taste is immaculate

visuals are very reminiscent of the virgin suicides, but i connected so much more with the sisterhood in this one,, like the shots of them in a tangle of limbs and wavy hair giggling on a sunlit bedroom floor made my heart SWELL. unfortunately, there’s sooooo much orientalism in this, it does not feel like an true cultural portrait of a household in rural Turkey,, but i semi loved it purely because of the sisterly love
