Midsommar
Midsommar is another one of Ari Aster's masterpieces as the movie discorvers many themes that follow the lines of grieve and depression circled by the activities of cults which are extremely disturbing leading to a new era of may queens that once had a rough relationships with their kings which ultimately was a kick off to being in the place where the movie's cult exist. The movie has beautiful imagery and smart cinematography in addition to unique story telling which depends on smartly fabricated visuals thrown all throughout the movie. The writing is also smart as it leaves a very wide and open discussion that's still a site of arguing to this day when the movie final scene hits showing the main character getting brainwashed as she smiles along side the horrific event that was made by the cult. My only problem falls on the flat characters that we see, the writing is phenomenal yet the characters feel one dimensional, lacking personality and sometimes out right boring, tho the movie does redeem itself through other qualities including the emotions of the characters and some dynamics, it's still hard to sometimes connect with tragedy to a full level. Despite the lackluster of complex characters, the movie was still amazing and still shows itself as a gem of the new era of horror movies, opening a new horizon for more complex and intriguing pieces of art.
