Return to Me
"I'll always miss her but I ache for Grace"
I'm in a puddle of tears right now. This movie is exceptional it is gut-wrenching and heartwarming all perfectly balanced out. It shows the hard parts of life, while also showing the most amazing parts of life. I was doing well, but then Bob sliding down the door and breaking down and Mel not being able to leave the door, absolutely heartbreaking and David Duchovny did an incredible job. He perfectly portrayed the emotional complexity of losing someone you love, but then having the courage to put yourself back out there. Minnie Driver is drop-dead gorgeous in this film and I think she nailed the feeling of falling in love with someone. The ensemble cast also has standout performances in this movie providing perfectly timed comic relief.
I have no notes for this movie except the highest of praises.
I hope everyone has at least one movie where they get to experience the feeling of falling in love with a movie. It is exhilarating. I've been in such a rabbit hole of psychological thrillers that I forgot how wonderful romance movies can be and how complex they can be even though people tend to write them off as cheesy and shallow.
They really do hit the spot sometimes.
