Adolescence
I don’t get the people who say this was boring, the fact that this was all shot in one take made it so tense and uncomfortable, you could feel the raw emotions of the actors even more and you can see how immersed they are
The whole point of this show is to show how the manosphere and porn culture, and people such as Andrew Tate affect young teens but people fail to miss the meaning of the show and just focused on “oh did he do it?” From the start of the show it was obvious that he did it, there was no doubt that he did
How he sees women as below men is disturbingly normalized, at the start his mom reminded his dad that he’s afraid of needles and knew his intolerances but he still picked his dad as his appropriate adult since he sees women as incapable, we can see this when he was asked to describe his mom, the only thing he said about her or found “useful” about her was that she knew how to cook a good roast, why wasn’t he calling for his mom? All he was doing was chasing after his dad and waiting for his validation, from the start of the show he had never once called his mom, at the end of ep 4 we can see him almost aggravated and pissed that his mom and sister were listening in too, he only wanted his dad, again, he sees no use in them for the sole fact that they’re women, he sees women as weak good for nothing servants, not to mention the scene where he was so pissed that the female psychiatrist “had the right” or more like the “power” to tell the guard to leave
Jamie isn’t a psychopath, nor does he have a personality disorder, he was groomed on the internet into thinking toxic masculinity justifies mistreating women
The last ep was boring for me at the start I admit but then i realized it was quite important to the story, it shows the effects everyone back at Jamie’s house has to deal with, and the consequences they have to go through because the innocence of their little boy has been stripped away from him because of people’s little toxic masculinities rant, the last scene with Jamie’s dad broke me, he was holding on and kissing the last bit of innocence left in his kids room, blaming himself nonstop for not doing better, when Jamie’s dad and his mom were reminiscing about Jamie when he was young, naive and innocent I couldn’t help but feel empathy for jamie, I felt as if the show wanted us to feel even a tad bit bad for Jamie and I did for a short while
