Barbarian
settings and story were good. however, the mysterious side character (homeless guy) full of unshared wisdom who’s warnings are ignored by the main character, conveniently and barely saves said main character from the foretold danger last second, gives some brief minimal insight to the situation only to then die without any actual character exploration or growthis an exhaustingly overdone trope that takes a lot of emotional impact out of this movie. i enjoyed the allegorical portrayal of motherhood but it just felt spiritually netflix. im also tired of the naked and unattractive woman = evil murderous monster phenomenon. the only seriously and definitively scary thing about the mother is her appearance.
