**IFFMH - #2 ** What is it with comedy actors turning out to be some of the best drama actors out there? This movie isn’t any less heartbreaking on the second watch, so please nobody speak to me; I need 2-3 business days to recover.

**IFFMH - #1** Hayao Miyazaki is the goat. We’ve watched this in a cinema full of kids, and while the young teenagers were annoying af (rip cinema etiquette), it was delightful witnessing a lot of young kids experience the whimsy of Studio Ghibli (for the first time). Totoro holds a special place in my heart, because it’s one of the first Ghibli films I’ve seen as a kid more than 20 years ago. Rewatching it made me feel like a child again, and I’m glad to see the magic being carried over to the next generations. Can’t wait to show this to my future kids some day.

Entertaining enough, but nothing to write home about. Before I start complaining, let me say something nice first: the headshot scene at the beginning was **really** cool, and I liked the way the camera pans out afterwards. Plus the villains were so disgusting, they did a lot for the grimy atmosphere. You can literally smell the movie. But the final girl wasn't final-girl-worthy imo; the only thing she had going for herself was her goody-two-shoes-ness. Most of her decisions weren't particularly smart (actually, a lot of them were naive or straight-up stupid), and she had maybe a minute of badass moments in total. Also, minus half a star for the costumes. Whoever was responsible for those outfits should go back to fashion school; what the fuck was that? If they hadn't told us repeatedly that it's set in the 70s, I would've sworn it takes place in the 2000s.

**Spooktober '26 - 31/31** Did his family even appreciate Bubba putting on makeup and a suit for their fine dining experience? I don’t think so. ☹️
