27 Dresses
This rating may seem insane, however, I truly believe this is the most well-structured movie of all time. In fact, all rom-coms should follow this structure.
It starts, the main girl and her quirk is revealed to us in a well paced scene. This scene also introduces the love interest, but it’s not explicit that he’s the one. They introduce her life, but don’t complicate it. They then introduce the problem (her boss falling for her sister). We then move on to the bonding scenes with her and the love interest as they are forced together by his job and her compulsion to help. Stuff happens, they get together then immediately there’s a breakdown of communication. Main characters sorts out the problem, she gets what she ‘thinks’ she wants, she figures out it isn’t what she wants and then go gets what she actually wants and has her happy ending.
No dumb choices driving conflict, only legitimate human miscommunications that don’t feel out of place in reality.
In conclusion, this is the perfect movie.
