boo !! too many emotions. too many cigarettes. fighting fascists while sipping from cool tiny glasses and rocking a fedora ??? fine. i’ll go along with it. what, like it’s some sort of masterpiece or something ? boo !!!! … five stars if i MUST. 🙄

supersmashhhhh 🤭 firstly, the cart driving guys in the pocket universe looked exactly like the human being mascot from community. “there’s nothing more punk rock than being kind” 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼. even tho this was a bit messy and weirdly paced i still thoroughly enjoyed it. loved the commitment to the corniness and goofy vibes. also really loveddd mr terrific. like why did i also fall in love with him. and yeah… the genocide metaphor isn’t exactly subtle + if most people’s first thought seeing kids in war zones is israel. well.…. !!!!!!!!!!

INTROVERTS RISE

i throwwwwww myself at films that let complex asian mums shine. and this was heartbreakingly beautiful 😀❤️🩹. didi joins EEAAO and minari to form the holy trinity of: convulsing, crying and feeling terrifyingly seen. the cool older sibling was too real (i thought mine were SO cool, but would never have admitted it). took me right back to being 10, blasting AFI’s ‘prelude 12/21’ on my bros hand me down ipod classic, staring out the window as if the world had betrayed me 😭 didi knows that feeling. the moodiness. the awkwardness. acting like like a brat to ur parents bc they ‘don’t understand you’. not grasping what THEY’VE gone through. the unbearable cringe that being sincere felt as a preteen... the relatability was sweet. and it ate me alive. LOVE.
