Monster
Wow, just Wow a literal masterpiece. This is also criminally underrated. Literally near perfect storytelling and plot twists, almost coming toe to toe with attack on titan (even though they're two competely different series).
John Liebert is probably one of my all time favorite antagonists now, he is just so chilling and seems so realistic in terms of nihilistic serial Killers. I wish he would have appeared in more episodes.
Him and Dr Tenma are one of the best written characters in fiction. It's so mind blowing that it feels that Johan is in every episode, lurking around in the shadows somewhere, even though he is in just about 20 of the 70 episodes.
Even though this show is near perfect, it still has some minor issues, such as: some episodes were kinda boring, where was just talking and not much crime of action, the show felt kinda slow sometimes, and lastly it buggs me that the 70 episodes are not split into seasons ( I know this might be a nitpick and also that it's supposed to be one continuing story)
The ending was at the same time kinda predictable, but also very interesting. Seeing Johan dissapear raises so many questions.
I would LOVE to get a sequel (even though we won't), but I guess it stands better as a standalone story. After these few weeks of watching monster, I need To get my hands on the Manga.
Overall, definetely top 3 anime and one of the best crime thriller shows ever.
I rate it 9.4/10
