mimi and mariia are the two girls we focus on. mariia, the popular girl who has friends and a well-behaved family. mimi, the new girl who is alone and sad, coming from a dysfunctional family. this is their story, how it started and how it ends. in the process of it, we can quite literally tell how deeply their love for each other was. their relationship develops naturally i felt like i was in love too. it was a dreamy yet realistic experience to watch their journey. and i’ll tell u what, this was the past. this was their story.
light light light has beautiful cinematography that captures each emotion portrayed in every scene. natural acting, relaxed pacing, and meaningful dialogue. imo, the film beautifully depicts what it feels like to fall in love as a teenager. and teenage love is innocent, pure, and sweet. although, it doesn’t mean that we can always have what we want. there are consequences, troubles, problems, etc. but with love, it heals. at least for a while. the beginning of this movie was somewhat beautiful. truly, love is the theme of it all. for a second, i was convinced that this would just be another cute romantic movie. i was wrong. this is the type of movies u’d want to rewatch just so u can feel something again. it might’ve been devastating, but that’s the fun part of it.
this movie gives u a lesson, n i truly am connected w both of these characters, mariia and mimi. it was an exploration of guilt, love, loss, innocence, and rebellion. present-day mariia returns to her hometown and was immediately reminded of her true love, mimi. and in the present time, she’s in a regretful state, knowing that she could not fix anything from her past. thankfully, her mother, äiti came to tell that she should not blame herself for something she cannot change. it’s life, u live, u relive, but to never regret it. after that emotional shower scene (which is one of my fav scene that makes me cry), mariia started to accept herself and her life for what it is.
such a beautiful film i might never forget it. an enjoyable experience too. from everything that i’ve observed, this movie deserves 5/5. if not, more.
