Before Sunrise
I’ve come back to this film so many times during pivotal moments in my life and it never disappoints. The record shop listening booth scene is probably my favourite scene in all of cinema. Now I’m older the philosophising feels slightly more cringe than it did before, but I feel like that’s exactly what the trilogy depicts. You’re young and you have all these grand ideas and you think you have everything figured out, and then suddenly you have to grapple with the realisation that you don’t. Also LOVE the ending where you see all the places they went, now empty. For that one day those places were like A Midsummer Night’s Dream, but in the morning it’s just a place you barely even register as you walk through a city.
