The Batman
I have to admit I did not like this movie on first viewing at the theater. The pacing was difficult to sit through at times and the acting was shoddy too. However, after watching it the second time I’ve come to love it immensely. I went in my first viewing thinking and comparing it to Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight.” That was my biggest mistake. This is a different character, world, and story. Pattinson perfectly holds the Bruce that’s only just begone his role as Gotham’s vengeance whereas Bale’s character has always focused on the complexities of the villains and side characters rather than Batman himself. Even further, we see Pattinson as Batman way more than Bale’s and this film by Matt Reeves felt just like a comic book. Batman Year 2. After accepting and realizing that this is a different interpretation of the Batman character, I could see the film for what it was and it is dang near close to perfection. The cinematography and soundtrack is incredible and worked every scene like art. Each shot can be analyzed heavily with metaphors, symbolism, and foreshadowing. “The Batman” is art and I only wish I could’ve went in my first viewing open minded.
