the butcher is a very complicated character, he’s a very insufferable person with little to no qualifying characteristics. his imagination is very wild and he makes up violent scenarios of what he would’ve done, viewing himself as the “bigger person”. in reality, at the end of the day, he’s either feeling some sort of remorse for his impulsive actions or easily shunned away from the situation escalating. gaspar puts the audience through a difficult experience after following the butcher for more than 10 minutes. the visuals and cinematography intensify the experience of the butcher as they show his opinions through fast paced sequences.

very edgy but not surprising that gaspar nóe created this. I enjoyed how the story was constructed and it was morbidly interesting but certain parts feel unnecessary to show the viewer. his dark approach of a father-daughter story through the mind of her dad was entertaining. his style is very reminiscent in this short too, he knew who he was from a very early age.

I enjoyed all the bumpers interacting with each other but everything felt like it got too complicated. I think this would work better with less minutes and more information about the people behind these commercials. I really liked the abnormality of all of it though, really interesting to tell the story flipping through tv channels.
