Nosferatu
a few of my favorite things about this film:
- style (i am typically not into period pieces, sue me, but this movie was incredible regarding setting, colors, and detail).
- great balance of supernatural evil and human evil. keeps the audience enthralled with the use of social commentary and fantasy 🫵🏻
- casting and acting
my only annoyances with this movie are how it’s overly sexualized (cough cough every male directed film) and idk i don’t like the notion that in order for her to sacrifice herself (for the sake of the story) it required her to have sex with count orlock. she could’ve just like gone with him and it could’ve been insinuated idk. but it is based on an old story so like obviously there are elements that will seem unacceptable now.
overall, i greatly enjoyed and this may or may not have changed my mind about period pieces.
(if ur looking to read a classic lit book that is similar to this but on more of a psychological level i recommend ormond by charles brockden brown💘)
